Hirebotics Unveils First No-Code, Explosion-Proof Cobot for Painting Applications
Hirebotics has introduced what it calls the industry’s first explosion-proof collaborative robot (cobot) solution for painting that requires no programming. The Cobot Painter combines the company’s no-code Beacon platform with FANUC’s CRX-10iA/L Paint hardware, enabling metal fabrication shops to bring coating work in-house without the expense and complexity of traditional automation.
The portable, lightweight system operates within a manufacturer’s existing manual spray environment, eliminating the need for dedicated paint cells, major exhaust upgrades, or conveyor overhauls. According to Hirebotics, the Cobot Painter can be deployed and running within days rather than months, giving shops control over lead times, quality, and profit margins.
Designed for Operators Without Robotics Experience
The FANUC CRX-10iA/L Paint cobot is the first explosion-proof collaborative robot approved for liquid painting, powder coating, and gel coating in hazardous environments. With a 55.82-inch reach, it handles large and complex parts with repeatable precision while reducing paint waste and overspray.
Like Hirebotics’ welding and cutting solutions, the Cobot Painter is fully accessible to operators without robotics expertise. Using the Beacon interface on any tablet or phone, operators simply guide the robot through painting motions with a “click-and-teach” approach. The cobot then replicates the exact speed, distance, and angle for every subsequent cycle.
“The Cobot Painter eliminates the need for dedicated paint cells and complex programming,” said Matt Bush, co-founder and CEO of Hirebotics. “By combining FANUC’s world-class, explosion-proof hardware with our intuitive, no-code Beacon platform, we’ve created an affordable, flexible finishing solution. Shops can now bring their coating in-house, deploy automation in days inside their existing booths, and deliver the flawless finishes their customers expect—without a single robotics specialist on staff.”

Built on Proven Collaborative Technology
The system leverages FANUC’s explosion-proof cobot series, which combines collaborative safety features with reliability in finishing applications. Dave Wagenhauser, Manager of Paint Robot Sales at FANUC America, noted that the partnership with Hirebotics and its Beacon platform streamlines setup and programming.
“Built on the CRX-10iA/L Paint cobot, the system brings the safety and precision of explosion-proof automation into standard manual coating environments,” said Wagenhauser. “The CRX Paint series is designed to deliver consistent, high-quality performance in painting and finishing applications. Our collaboration with Hirebotics and its Beacon platform further streamlines setup and programming, helping reduce integration complexity and enabling faster deployment in high-mix, low-volume production environments.”
Availability and Future Capabilities
The Cobot Painter is available now and supports stationary painting, where parts are placed in a paint booth and the robot performs all spraying operations. Hirebotics plans to release future versions with line-tracking capability, allowing the robot to track and paint parts in continuous motion along a production line.
