Hyperscale Data Begins Installation of Omnipresent Robotics OPR-R2 Robots at Michigan AI Facility | RoboticsTomorrow
Hyperscale Data, Inc. (NYSE American: GPUS) has announced that its subsidiary, Omnipresent Robotics, has begun installing OPR-R2 robots at the company’s Michigan artificial intelligence data center. The first unit was assembled on-site July 16, 2026, marking the start of a large-scale visual data collection and physical AI training program.
The company has placed an order for 143 OPR-R2 robots, with up to 100 units expected to be deployed at the Michigan facility. The remaining robots are slated for partner pilot programs, with further details expected in the coming months. Delivery and installation timelines remain subject to manufacturing lead times, supply chain conditions, and other factors.
Data Generation Program for Physical AI
The OPR-R2 robots are designed to perform real-world tasks while capturing high-quality visual, spatial, movement, and interaction data. This data will be processed, validated, and used to train advanced foundation models, including large language models, vision-language-action models, and robotics foundation models.
All data generated through the program will be warehoused and maintained in the United States, with the company stating it has no intention of allowing the data to leave the country. The initiative aims to address a key challenge in physical and embodied AI: the availability of high-quality, real-world data showing how machines perceive, navigate, and interact with physical environments.
Rather than serving primarily as a robot evaluation platform, the OPR-R2 fleet will function as a real-world data-generation platform, performing practical tasks while capturing the visual and physical information needed to train AI systems.

Job Creation and Facility Expansion
Hyperscale Data is developing an approximately 100,000-square-foot dedicated robotics facility within its Michigan data center campus to support the deployment and operation of the OPR-R2 robots. The company believes this expansion could support the creation of more than 500 jobs over roughly the next three years as the program develops and operations expand.
CEO Comments on the Initiative
Will Horne, Chief Executive Officer of Hyperscale Data, stated, “The arrival of the first OPR-R2 robot in Michigan represents the beginning of an important real-world data-generation program. These robots will perform physical tasks and generate the visual, spatial and interaction data required to train increasingly advanced AI models.”
Horne added, “We are developing approximately 100,000 square feet within our Michigan data center campus specifically for Omnipresent Robotics and this physical AI initiative. We believe this dedicated facility can become an important center for generating, processing and warehousing high-quality physical-world data for large language models, multimodal AI systems and other advanced AI applications.”
He emphasized that the data generated will remain in the United States and noted the potential for more than 500 jobs over the next three years.
