MVTec at VISION 2026: Pushing Machine Vision to the Edge with AI Innovation

By editorial News

MVTec Software GmbH, a global leader in machine vision software, will showcase its latest product portfolio and future industry direction at VISION 2026, held October 6-8 in Stuttgart, Germany. Under the motto “Pushing machine vision to the edge,” the company will demonstrate how artificial intelligence is transforming the field—far beyond traditional image processing.

The exhibition, located at Hall 8, Booth 8C56, will feature MVTec HALCON, MVTec MERLIC, and the MVTec Deep Learning Tool, alongside a forward-looking AI prototype designed to redefine development workflows.

AI Takes Center Stage at MVTec’s Booth

Artificial intelligence is the core theme of MVTec’s presence, with dedicated thematic areas covering image processing, disruption, speed, security, partnerships, and development environments. “The importance and adoption of AI within our industry will continue to grow significantly,” said Dr. Olaf Munkelt, Managing Director of MVTec. “We want to demonstrate where our industry is heading.”

A highlight is the AI Vision Solver, a prototype that allows visitors to select application scenarios on a touchscreen, which then automatically executes the task in HDevelopEVO via a prompt. This system leverages HALCON’s library as a knowledge base and illustrates how AI agents can accelerate development and lower the barrier for entry into machine vision.

Powerful, Flexible, and Hardware-Independent Software

MVTec’s core software products combine state-of-the-art deep learning methods with rule-based approaches. HALCON is designed for demanding applications such as quality assurance, robot guidance, and inspection across industries like semiconductor manufacturing and food processing. MERLIC offers an easy-to-use interface for beginners while providing advanced AI algorithms, process stability, and PLC connectivity. The Deep Learning Tool streamlines training data preparation and model evaluation.

All three products will see new releases in fall 2026, with first looks available at the booth. “Our software combines deep learning with rule-based approaches, making them exceptionally powerful and flexible—and hardware-independent, so users can freely choose optimal components,” explained Dr. Maximilian Lückenhaus, Director of Marketing + Business Development.

Speed, Security, and Ecosystem Partnerships

Speed is a critical factor, especially for AI applications. MVTec demonstrates efficient deep learning inference on various target platforms using hardware accelerators from Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD. As a hardware-independent provider, the company assists customers in selecting optimal hardware-software combinations.

Cybersecurity is another key focus, with AI raising new resilience requirements. MVTec showcases its approach to cyber resilience and offers consultation on regulations like the EU Cyber Resilience Act.

The company also highlights new partnerships that create industrial ecosystems, simplifying the integration of machine vision into automation environments.

HDevelopEVO: A Next-Gen Development Environment

MVTec presents HDevelopEVO, the next generation of HALCON’s integrated development environment. Designed for more structured, transparent, and efficient application development, HDevelopEVO incorporates AI both during development and in production. Visitors can see a highly advanced stage of its development and discuss the future roadmap with MVTec experts.

Additional Presentations and Guided Tours

Beyond booth demonstrations, MVTec will deliver a talk titled “6D Pose Estimation Based on Synthetic Data” at the Synthetic Data Symposium. The company will also lead Application Guided Tours, open to all attendees, featuring live demonstrations by partner companies using MVTec software.

VISION 2026 marks another milestone for MVTec as it continues to lead the industry into an AI-powered future.
