World's First Fleet-Capable Downward Drilling Robot DALE Launches Commercially to Accelerate Data Center Construction
DEWALT, a Stanley Black & Decker brand, has announced the commercial launch of DALE™, the world's first fleet-capable downward drilling robot, developed in collaboration with August Robotics. The robot aims to revolutionize data center construction by delivering concrete drilling with unmatched speed, safety, and efficiency. During a year-long pilot program with a leading technology company, DALE demonstrated drilling speeds up to 10 times faster than traditional methods, achieving 99.97% accuracy across more than 230,000 holes.
The robot's debut at World of Concrete earlier this year drew widespread acclaim from industry professionals and media outlets, including Fast Company, which praised its potential to "drastically speed up data center construction."
Pilot Program Results
The pilot program spanned 26 data center construction phases, reducing total project timelines by 190 weeks. DALE's performance has set a new standard for productivity and precision, addressing the urgent need for speed in the hyperscaler race to deliver computing capacity. Bill Beck, President of Tools & Outdoor at Stanley Black & Decker, emphasized that the robot's proven ability to accelerate schedules, reduce costs, enhance precision, and elevate safety is now being brought to a broader market.

Features and Ecosystem
DALE is equipped with fast-swap batteries and remote monitoring, enabling around-the-clock drilling operations. Integrated automatic dust extraction and AI-enhanced quality assurance keep job sites clean and ready for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installation immediately after drilling, shaving weeks off schedules. Powered by August Robotics' advanced autonomous, fleet-capable platform, the robot supports cost-efficient, high-capacity drilling for server rack stops and MEP system supports. It complements DEWALT's PERFORM AND PROTECT™ tools and ICC anchoring solutions within the company's data center ecosystem.
Availability
The downward drilling robot is now available for commercial orders. More information can be found at www.dewalt.com, and details on August Robotics' autonomous mobile robotics solutions are available at www.augustrobotics.com.
