X Square Robot Raises Four Consecutive Rounds, Hits $2.8 Billion Valuation in Embodied AI Push

By editorial News

X Square Robot, a developer of general-purpose embodied intelligence robots and foundation models, has announced the closure of four consecutive financing rounds culminating in a Series C, propelling its valuation to over $2.8 billion (RMB 20 billion). The milestone positions the startup among China's highest-valued embodied AI companies.

The Series C round saw participation from IDG Capital, while existing investors HongShan and Xiaomi renewed their backing across multiple rounds. Combined with earlier lead investments from Meituan, Alibaba, ByteDance, and Xiaomi, X Square Robot has become the only embodied AI company in China to secure lead-round funding from all four of the country's dominant internet technology firms.

Accelerating Toward General-Purpose Embodied Intelligence

"Since day one, X Square Robot has focused on in-house development of foundation models, pursuing a challenging but necessary path," said Wang Qian, founder and CEO. "Today, our investments in embodied AI models, scalable, model-driven high-quality data pipeline system, and real-world deployment are beginning to deliver clear results."

The company will deploy the new capital to deepen core technologies and foundational research in embodied intelligence, with the goal of advancing toward general-purpose AI that bridges the physical world and ultimately serves humanity.

Full-Stack System Anchored by Unified Foundation Model

Founded in 2023, X Square Robot is building an end-to-end embodied AI system that integrates foundation models, robotics hardware, and a proprietary data pipeline. Unlike traditional rule-based automation, its approach allows robots to adapt to changing environments and generalize across diverse tasks.

In April 2026, the company unveiled WALL-B, an embodied AI foundation model built on its World Unified Model architecture. Unlike modular vision-language-action approaches that connect separate components, WALL-B trains perception, language, action, and physical prediction within a unified network, enabling stronger multimodal understanding, spatial reasoning, and continual learning from real-world interactions.

X Square Robot has also open-sourced WALL-OSS-0.5 and WALL-WM. The former achieved over 80% autonomous completion on four of 17 real-robot tasks without post-training, while the latter introduces event-level prediction by aligning language, vision, and action data around meaningful events, boosting cross-modal learning and physical-world prediction.

To accelerate model development, the company built a scalable, model-driven data pipeline covering automated collection, cleaning, annotation, quality control, and augmentation. Combined with real-world deployments, the system enables rapid model iteration while generating high-quality datasets for complex and long-tail scenarios.

Real-World Robots Enter Homes and Workplaces

X Square Robot is already deploying its model and hardware stack across household, industrial, and logistics settings. Household applications represent one of the most complex and critical testbeds for real-world embodied AI.

In partnership with 58.com, the company launched an AI-powered cleaning service in Shenzhen and Beijing, where robots work alongside human cleaners in actual residential environments. Since May, the "X Family Member Program" has placed robots into users' homes for up to one month as household companions, responding to a wide range of everyday needs. These initiatives move embodied robots beyond staged demos and into real homes and daily life.

The company believes such real-world deployments create a continuous feedback loop: operational data improves model performance, accelerating progress toward general-purpose embodied intelligence.

"As AI moves beyond digital experiences into the physical world, progress will depend on close integration between models, data, and robotics," Wang said. "We're building that foundation so embodied AI can become part of everyday life."
