Industrial automation provider Yaskawa America Inc. has earned independent certification to the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding customer information through internationally recognized information security management practices. The Miamisburg, Ohio-based company announced the certification, which followed a rigorous third-party audit.

Certification Details

Yaskawa’s Motoman Robotics Division successfully completed an extensive independent audit conducted by EAGLE Certification Group, becoming the first organization certified under EAGLE’s new ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB)-accredited ISO/IEC 27001:2022 program. The standard is recognized in more than 160 countries and is widely accepted as the benchmark for information security management across global industries.

“As manufacturers continue adopting connected automation, software, and intelligent robotics, information security has become an essential part of delivering reliable automation solutions,” stated David Troeter, vice president of Yaskawa Support Services. “Achieving ISO 27001 certification reflects our long-term commitment to protecting customer information and reinforces the trust customers place in Yaskawa Motoman every day.”

Three-Year Initiative

The certification was the culmination of a three-year, cross-functional initiative led by Robert Turner, support services administrator, to strengthen the company’s information security posture. The effort involved evaluating security processes across technology, operations, and organizational practices as part of Yaskawa’s continued investment in protecting customer, partner, and business information.

Founded in 1989, the Motoman Robotics Division is a leading robotics company in the Americas, with more than 600,000 Motoman robots installed globally. The company provides automation products for a wide range of industrial applications, including arc welding, assembly, coating, dispensing, material handling, material cutting, material removal, packaging, palletizing, spot welding, and clinical laboratory specimen processing.

Importance for Customers

ISO 27001 certification establishes a comprehensive framework for risk management, security governance, employee awareness, and continuous improvement. For Yaskawa customers and partners, the certification provides assurance that information is managed according to internationally recognized best practices. It also supports organizations with stringent supplier security requirements by demonstrating compliance with an independently audited information security management system (ISMS).

As robotics, artificial intelligence, software, and connected manufacturing systems continue to evolve, Yaskawa said it will continue investing in the people, processes, and technologies that support secure, reliable automation for its customers worldwide.
